Murder in N.D.

Three men were accused of murder on Monday after they had attempted to kill a man. The attempted murder must have been very planned out because one of the men had already had plastic lined in the trunk of his car. They beat him numerously and tried to curb stomp his head when he tried to escape. They dragged him to Montana and beat him so much that they assumed that he was dead so they left him and headed back to Williston. Luckily enough he somehow survived all this and found his way to a town in Montana where he was helped and taken to a nearby hospital. The men have been given charges of kidnapping and assault. The police are saying that the man that wanted him dead was on drugs at that point.
I don't understand how someone can order this attack on someone without feeling any guilt about it. Did they grow up in a bad environment where this type of behavior is acceptable because here in North Dakota we don't see much of this. We are not used to it being like this. I believe that all this new violence has come with the oil boom. I know our state isn't perfect but our crime had skyrocketed when Williston and Dickinson grew because of the drilling for oil. The more it moves throughout the state the more crime I think we are going to have. Why can't people come to work for money and not get themselves into trouble. Drinking probably has a big role with this also. Since the man wanting the attack was on drugs it probably means that there is going to be more things like this happening. Which is not good at all, I hope it doesn't happen. I would like my kids, when I eventually have them, to grow up in a place that is full of violence. I love North Dakota and I don't want to leave.

Restoring the panthers

Since 1995 the panther population had been dwindling near extinction. Thank goodness someone saw that they were getting low because Florida is trying to repopulate the panther species. They had to pull out some cougars from Texas because the population of panthers was to low so whenever they tried to make offspring they just ended up making panthers that had bad genes and weren't stable to reproduce. Now that they got one colony set up in Florida they would like to make another colony in a different state because to many in one place could be very dangerous to the people living around there. Also with these animals being so close they might end up getting into fights with one another competing for head role.
I'm glad they are trying to rebuild the population because we want this world to be healthy just like it was before. Being in the Wildlife field makes me think about this type of stuff way more than I used to. We need animals, they may be harmful but usually this is only when they are provoked. With us expanding cities and getting into the land that they have lived on forever is scaring them, making do things they wouldn't normally do. Personally i'm very glad someone is looking into the panthers because a lot of schools go by the mascot of the panther. It's just as equal to this world as any other animal.

Shooting in Baltimore

The shooting took place at Perry Hall Highschool today. One kid was critically injured and is now in the hospital. The shooting took place just a little before 11 today. I don't understand why someone would just randomly go to school, pull out and gun and just start shooting. Police say that he got one shot off and then a few faculty members took him down. I think these people are very heroic because who knows how many people could have been killed. They also say that he did the shooting at random but I feel like something else had to have triggered it. No one just decides that they are going to wake up and decide they are going to shoot someone today. I just don't understand why the parents haven't seen this coming, shouldn't they have seen that something was bothering him.

Oil in North Dakota

So the oil assets in North Dakota are being sold to a different company. This company is called QEP and they believe that this buy will increase the rate of oil production since they are expanding the land also.
I cant decide if this will be good for ND or if it's going to bring in more people like the other oil boom did. Personally I don't have a problem with them expanding because the more oil we dig up the more gas prices might go down. But on the other hand it will be using up all our natural resources sooner than we want. So this is probably a win/lose situation.
